Extreme Sensescapes: The Medieval Birgettine Environment, Fashioned through Art and Architecture, Music and Rituals
Fellow Project Academic Year
2013
Professor Corine Schleif will discuss the digital (re)creation of Saint Birgitta’s monastic sensescape as ideal “home” for late-medieval same-sex communities. This spectacular late-Gothic art, music, and architecture challenged prevailing hegemonies and facilitated women’s agency in surprising ways.
