Using resources accumulated through its NSF grants, the project for the first time researches and interrelates 1500 years of elaboration of the Resplendent Quetzal and the closely related deities, Quetzalcoatl, Kukulkan, Gucomatz, and Xochiquetzal in pre- and post-Hispanic and Latin American archaeology, art history, folklore, literature, songs, and religion.
