Thanks for considering hosting your event at the Humanities Institute, located in Ross-Blakley Hall! Our space is available for institute-affiliates and faculty seeking venues for collaborative opportunities, such as small events and workshops.
Please note: the institute prioritizes humanities-based events and retains the right to reject requests for any reason, including team availability.

Ross-Blakley Hall 196
Most institute events are held at Ross-Blakley Hall 196 for its versatility and ability to accommodate a variety of seating layouts, including theater, classroom and island.

- Independent conference room located at the lobby of the building
- Entrance area suitable for serving light refreshments
- Wall-mounted display screen (42.5” x 75”) with Zoom function and built-in camera
- Mobile podium

Ross-Blakley Hall 197
Ross-Blakley Hall 197 is suitable for events such as receptions or large workshops. For this reason, the institute hosts its writing studio series every semester in this space.
Features:
- L-shaped space connecting to an open-area where artwork is exhibited
- Easy access to kitchenette
- Display screen (31.5”x55”) on mobile rolling stand
- Poly Studio USB Video Bar (smart camera) with cable connection
Maximum capacity: 85 in reception settings and 40 in workshop settings
Our policies
Advanced booking is required
Submit your request over email. Please reach out to us for if you need to cancel your reservation for any reason.
Users are responsible for set-up and clean-up
- Return furniture to its original configuration
- Clear all personal items, food/beverages and trash
- Set trash bins for 196 outside of the room
- Turn off all technology and lights
Users are responsible for managing event closing and capacity requirements
Events must start and end promptly to avoid conflicting with the next user. Strict adherence to posted maximum capacity is required for safety.
Users must schedule a tech rehearsal for hybrid events
When booking, please alert our staff if your event is hybrid. Please be available to conduct test all monitors three days in advance of the event.
