Social Transformations and Transformational Knowledge

Seed Grant Semester Awarded
Fall
Seed Grant Award Year
2008

This is a time of great political, societal and economic upheaval and transformation. It is in this context that ASU is creating a new school, tentatively entitled the School of Social Transformation, focusing on justice, power and social change. The interdisciplinary group of faculty comprising this school seeks to simultaneously address major issues confronting our society and think critically about how best to construct new knowledge. To help us create knowledge that is transformational and transdisciplinary, we will host a symposium with humanities scholars who are also grappling with questions about justice, intersectionality and social transformation. A later outcome of this seed grant will be an edited volume on transdisciplinary scholarship in pursuit of justice and social transformation.
